With a focus on Mindfulness for the evening, we had an inspiring, motivating and uplifting start to the year ahead at our Annual Gala Dinner, which took place in the Maldron Hotel on Feb 4th.
Headline speaker for the evening was Mindfulness expert Helen McCrarren, a businesswoman, mindfulness teacher and mother of five from Monaghan. Helen trained with some of the leading experts in mindfulness, including Jon Kabat Zinn. She is an inspirational speaker on how mindfulness rewires the brain for clarity creativity and calmness. First Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District, Councillor Elisha McCallion also joined us, and reminded us of the strength and success women create in working together. This was a great reflection of what has been happening this year with Women in Enterprise collaborating on membership with Women in Business NI, the Belfast based network, plus recent creation of the ‘Women Beyond Borders’ concept with the Donegal Women in Business Network.
The event main sponsors of the event was the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and Tracy Hegarty spoke to their behalf on the role of CMI, which is to create leaders through management and leadership development training. Tracy also reflected on the long-term relationship CMI have locally with Women in Enterprise, demonstrating how collaboration and networks working together create opportunities for all local businesswomen.
Women who attended included some who travelled from as far away as Gweedore in Donegal and from Coleraine, Portstewart and Belfast along with our local Derry Londonderry and Strabane attendees. There was great success in women connecting, sharing and inspiring each other throughout the evening.
The Women in Enterprise network is non-profit run by businesswomen who give their time on a voluntary basis. Their next event takes place on Tues 23rd Feb in Everglades Hotel during the Derry Strabane Enterprise Week when local journalist Leona O’Neill will deliver a workshop on using PR to market your business.
